In the Gothic times in which we live, horror is everywhere and always imminent. Amidst continual existential anxiety, constant media bombardment, and weaponised nostalgia, it can often seem as though irony is dead. What does comic media look like in this context? This talk considers the question in relation to Haunted TikTok, a series of short-form videos claiming to capture live paranormal occurrences (some under the hashtag #hauntedtiktok).
If people are willing, we will try our hand at making our own TikTok videos at the end!
